Goreng Pisang and friends

I have yet to meet any Malaysian that does not like Goreng Pisang so I hope that those reading this post will give this recipe a try.

There is a specific type of banana to buy for Goreng Pisang and if you are at the market just ask the vendor and they will point out the variety (the variety I love is called "Pisang Raja").

In a deep bowl mix 1 cup wheat flour, 1/4 cup rice flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, salt and about 185ml water. For a dose of crunchiness you may want to add some baking soda or if you have a tiny bit of "kapur sirih".

Coat each sliced banana and fry in very hot oil. This is really a great tea time snack.

We had this with some other favourites which were an indian classic Puttu and some steamed lepat pisang which when I have more time I will post the recipe here.
